Every year at Camp Akita we focus our discussion and quiet time around a theme. We do our best to pick a theme that will be recognizable to every camper, provide content for discussion, and serve as a new lens for seeing Camp Akita’s core values of acceptance, community, authenticity, and compassion. We are very excited to announce the 2026 summer camp theme!
Camp Akita is turning up the volume with our 2026 camp theme: Off the Charts! This summer, every camper is invited to find their rhythm, share their voice, and rock the house down as we celebrate all things music!
From wake-up playlists to full-group campfire songs, music will shape each day at Camp Akita. Campers will explore sound in playful and meaningful ways, like creating a cabin band name, crafting recycled instruments, and discovering how music connects us across cultures. All your favorite Camp Akita traditions are waiting for you, from the soap slide to the climbing tower. You may just find yourself adding a few extra dance moves in between!
No musical experience? No problem! Off the Charts is about participation, not perfection. Just as classical music, show tunes, and ‘90s pop each offer a distinct sound, every camper brings their unique song to camp. We can’t wait to hear each one—and discover how we harmonize together!
As Psalm 98:4 says, “Break forth into joyous song and sing praises.” At Camp Akita, that joyful noise might sound like a team chant, a made-up song on a hike, or a beloved singalong under the stars. Music will be our shared language of gratitude and belonging, because at Camp Akita, we’re all part of the band!
