Akita Fun Day

Akita Fun Day
April 21, 1 – 4 pm
Camp Akita (29746 Logan-Hornsmill Rd., Logan, OH 43138)

Join us for some Spring outdoor fun at Camp Akita on Sunday, April 21!  Drop in anytime from 1 – 4 pm to enjoy open-house-style fun:

  • Hike the Akita trails at your own pace (maps provided), or take a guided Nature/Wildflower walk at 2 pm or 3 pm. Guided hikes will be led by Andy Frick, Asst Summer Camp Director, National Park Ranger.
  • Join in at 2:30 pm with some group campfire songs (Tiki Time!) at the Amphitheatre.
  • Participate in a Nature Scavenger Hunt (at your own pace!).
  • Jump on a short hayride to Rock Stall Nature Preserve (parking is very limited at this site, we encourage the hayride). Take a beautiful hike on this path with unique rock formations and a waterfall! The hayride will drive back and forth continuously to camp, with the last return to main camp leaving at 3:30 pm from Rock Stalls.
Please note: The Rock Stalls path is slightly more difficult to hike than Akita's other paths due to the terrain. Those with mobility issues may have some challenges.
  • Canoe, kayak, or paddle board on the lake Life jackets are available. Life guards will NOT be present, participation is at your own risk. NO swimming permitted.
  • Bring your own fishing pole and enjoy some quiet fishing time at the lake,
  • Decorate some cookies for a snack in the Dining Hall,
  • Make your own flower pot behind the Lodge,
  • Or just come to relax and enjoy some outdoor time with friends and family!

Please note:  Unfortunately, the Alpine Tower and Giant Swing will not be available this Fun Day due to maintenance issues.

All activities will be held outdoors unless there is inclement weather. Bring a reusable water bottle, refilling stations will be in the Dining Hall and the Lodge.

Whether this will be your first time at Camp Akita or you have been attending for years, we hope to see you on April 21!  All are welcome; no registration required.
