Wilderness First Responder Packing List
In order to simulate real wilderness emergencies, we will be working and learning outdoors as must as possible, regardless of the weather. Therefore, remember to bring appropriate layers to accommodate for the weather (think about staying dry and warm), and to be comfortable both in and outdoors at any time during your course.
o Warm outdoor clothing suitable very cold temperatures
o Several changes of socks & underwear
o Shoes and boots
o A pair of flip flops for the shower (optional)
o Clothing for indoor classes
o Sleepwear
o Waterproof jacket and paints
o Sleeping bag or sheets and a blanket - for a twin bed
o Pillow and pillowcase
o Towels and washcloths
o Toiletries
o Flashlight/headlamp
o Pens/pencils and a notepad
o Water bottle
o A watch, preferably with a sweeping second hand
o Gloves
o Warm hat or toboggan
o Day pack
o Camp chair (optional)
o Bandanas, p-cord, ties, straps, or anything else that can be used for attachment
In addition: If you participate in gear intensive activities (paddling, climbing, ect.) feel free to bring your gear/ what you would normally have during your activity. The more you practice with what you would normally have on hand, the better your patient care in an actual emergency.
