2024 CAMP AKITA SUMMER RECAP from Camp Akita on Vimeo.
Our most popular tradition. Cover yourself in mud, challenge yourself at the Adventure Complex, get to know yourself in moments of reflection at Vesper Hill, share s'mores around the campfire, and find yourself as a valued member of an unconditionally loving community. (Includes Family Camp and 1, 2, 3...Akita!)
This service leadership program allows campers to give back to Akita by serving meals, cleaning camp, setting up activities, and doing work projects, all while living in a family-style community behind the scenes. (Available for grades 10–12 & grads.)
For those who love the outdoors, Akita Backcountry is your chance to come face-to-face with the wonders of nature. Sleep in platform tents in the woods beyond main camp while learning specialized skills such as archery, hiking, Dutch oven cooking, outdoor survival, and canoeing. (Available for grades 7–12 & grads.)
If you have questions about any of our summer programs, please contact the Columbus Administrative offices or call (614) 488-0681 ext. 113.
You are invited to a family day open house at Akita on Sunday, May 31, from 1:30 to 4:30 pm. Meet the 2015 summer staff and tour the cabins, dining hall, and lodge. You'll also be able to swim in the lake, go on a nature hike, and get a milkshake. This will be an excellent opportunity for first-time campers to become comfortable with our facilities and staff. We are also excited to meet the parents of our campers who have been enjoying Akita for years. Don't miss out on this unique chance to experience Camp Akita before the summer begins!
