Akita Spring Cleaning Day

It has been almost two years since Camp Akita has seen campers, and we need extra help getting the cabins, hillside trails and buildings ready for summer camp!

Join us for the Akita Spring Cleaning Day on Saturday, May 8 from 10 am - 4 pm at Camp Akita. Volunteers will work a full or partial day in small groups to sweep, clean, paint, landscape and help spruce up the main camp facilities. Boxed lunches are provided.

How to sign-up:

Volunteer spots are limited, so registration is required. Adults and high schoolers are welcome to register; middle schoolers may attend if accompanied by an adult. Please register each volunteer in your party by May 5 to ensure your box lunch will be available. The link to register is at the bottom of this page.

Volunteers will drive themselves to Camp Akita. Once on site, they will work in small groups under the leadership of Akita Council members. Boxed lunches (turkey wrap and vegetarian option) and beverages will be provided and eaten outside.

COVID policies:

Masks are required. Volunteers will work in small groups and observe appropriate physical distancing. Most activities will take place outdoors.

What to wear and bring:

Please wear durable work clothes and shoes that can get dirty. Work gloves are strongly recommended. Please bring a water bottle and a face mask. No additional equipment is required, but extra 5-gallon buckets and a broom are useful if you have some to bring.

What if it rains?

In the case of inclement weather, you will receive notice by text and email by 8 am on May 8. The rescheduled Akita Spring Cleaning Day will take place on Saturday, May 15.
