I started coming to camp Akita as a camper in 1998 and joined the staff in 2002. In my 11 years on staff at Akita I have been a Counselor, Adventure Program Director, Waterfront Director, Assistant Camp Director and now I serve as the Camp Director. My wife Kelsey is a Veterinarian in Hilliard has been going to Camp Akita every year since 1991, and was part of the summer staff from 2002-2004. Kelsey and I are excited to bring our new daughter Ella, born 12/27/11 and our Black Labrador Moose to camp with us this Summer. We couldn't think of a more loving, safe and positive place to be able to spend time raising our daughter.

My role at Akita is to make sure that every detail of Akita goes as planned, and to come up with that plan with the help of my great team. Getting to work with our amazing summer staff and spending time with our awesome campers is what gives me the energy to continue with this great job year after year. No summer at Akita is the same, but there is a great consistency that makes it always feel like home.

After graduating from The Ohio State University I have continued my education with multiple National Outdoor Leadership School courses and have sought wilderness emergency medical training. I enjoy fishing, backpacking, hiking, kayaking and pretty much anything you can do outside. My job has taken me to lean-tos in the Adirondack Mountains of upstate New York, orphanages in the Dominican Republic, the Barrios of Tecate, Mexico to build houses and the Hocking Hills that Akita calls home. I love my job!
