What is L.I.F.E. Guard?

L.I.F.E. Guard is an opportunity available for high school student leaders(going into 10^th-12^th grades, plus 2010 Senior Graduates) looking for a service-based faith experience at Akita. The acronym L.I.F.E., for "Last Is First Eternal" (Matthew 19:30), is a reminder of the spirit behind the work performed by this group.

A crew of high school students devote one or two camp sessions to serving the camp, campers, and God. By doing much of the behind-the-scenes work that enables camp to run so smoothly for the campers, the participants learn how to give of themselves without seeking any credit or praise. The "Guard experience" is the next step in the pursuit of a deeper understanding of their faith.

Registration will begin on this site beginning March 1, 2010. A minimum $75 non-refundable deposit is required at registration. 

Information requested for registration:

• Basic camper information, including address, phone, email, grade, school, birthdate, t-shirt size
• Emergency contact information
• Insurance and medical information
• Short responses to the following 3 questions:
  • What is your understanding of the mission of the L.I.F.E. Guard program?
  • What types of service have you completed in the past?
  • In your opinion, how do faith and service relate to each other?
