Here are the programs Camp Akita offers for campers entering 6th grade:
This age level is introduced for the first time to the Camp Akita program theme. This theme will introduce funny characters, skits, a narrative, and games in which the campers will be split into teams for. The teams will be the same all week and the campers will compete for points for their teams. We will transition to a more open "free time" in the afternoon and we willl have a skit night, a hike to Bald Eagle and Rock Stalls, and the soap slide. These campers will be able to experience our water slides and take out boats in the afternoon.
Campers will have the opportunity to hear a nightly message from one of our staff members. We have scheduled time for cabin discussions and will introduce small group time in the morning. In their small groups, campers will be able to spend time with two staff members and a mix of boy and girl campers from other cabins. This time is used to build friendships outside of cabin groups and thoughtful hands on activities to help our campers explore their own faith journeys.

Akita Backcountry is our outdoor education camp experience. Each session is limited to 10 campers who will stay in two large platform tents in a remote corner of our property. By immersing ourselves in nature, living more simply, and sleeping under the stars, we often feel like the best versions of ourselves. There is something about cooking over a campfire and listening to the crickets that makes it easy for us to ask bigger questions, trust one another, and engage in deep conversations about faith. The program’s strength lies in the small number of participants and the relationships so easily formed as we explore together.
